Cavill Academy is Launched PDF Print E-mail

Cavill AcademyWhen an organisation is teaching 600 people a week, the possibilities of finding talented juniors is good. Since September 2004 the Tennis Works Junior Academy has worked with 26 children of which all are under the age of 10. The players endured 3 hours a week squad training plus matchplay and tournaments. The improvement has been outstanding, with the players competing and winning local and county events.

But where do the players go from here? As from September 2005, selected players will join the brand new Cavill Academy. Tennis Works Head Coach, John Cavill, has been working with players for the past 11 years both in the UK and abroad. During these years he has worked with County, Regional and National level players, ensuring that the key ingredients of developing a player are delivered from a young age.

The academy will offer Under 12 players the chance to access 13 hours a week of intensive training under John's supervision. All their performance needs will be catered for including fitness programmes, nutritional monitoring, psychological training as well as the on court practice. The players will also compete regularly against other clubs and in tournaments.

The academy also offers the opportunity for the players to train and compete in Mallorca on the clay courts. The Cavill Academy has strong links with The Global Tennis Team in Palma de Mallorca, which is the training base for top professionals, Carlos Moya and 19-year-old French Open winner Rafael Nadal.

The unique environment and opportunities these players will have will soon produce a new bread of British Champion with national and international experience from a young age.

John Cavill said, "I am very excited to be able to dedicate a large amount of time to these young players. I have proved many times that I can give any dedicated child the best possible chance to fulfil their potential and now I will take it to a whole new level. The challenge for the players and myself will be revolutionary and I hope that what we are doing helps raise the level of British Tennis to compete at a high international level."

Released: 2 July 2005
