The half term break was very special for two individuals who train at the Milton Keynes based Cavill Academy. Megan Jones and Freya Berkin, both 11 years old, had a week-long experience of what it takes to train as a professional tennis player at the Global Tennis Team academy in Mallorca. Academy coach, John Cavill, has formed links with the Global Tennis Team to improve the level of players from Britain that wish to experience the tough environment that the successful Spanish system demands in the hope of producing international players.
Global Tennis Team director, Jofre Porta, is also the coach to Carlos Moya (former world number 1 and French Open champion) and technical coach to 19-year old Rafael Nadal (current world number 2 and French Open champion). The strong relationship between John and Jofre means that players from the UK will be accessing the academy on a regular basis and who knows, may be the next Andrew Murray will come from this superb initiative!
