On Friday 2nd June at Gerrards Cross, numerous children competed in the Bucks LTA Mini Tennis Grand Prix. The countywide event has been running since September 2005 and has proved a huge success over the past 3 years, with children from up and down the county competing at Mini Tennis.7-year old Sophie Honor from Winslow had another success, as she competed against 6 other girls in the Mini Tennis Orange event. Sophie, who is in the Tennis Works Mini Academy and currently trains 4 and a half hours a week, has started to have some good results after working very hard throughout the winter. She battled hard to win 5 out of the 6 matches she played, which resulted in coming second place.
Sophie’s coach, John Cavill, said,” I am very pleased for Sophie as she is very committed to her tennis and in the last few months have we been seeing her developing into a tennis player. All the players in the Mini Academy are starting to make breakthroughs and I am very excited in what the future holds.”
