As the weather starts to resemble the start of the summer, the Cavill Academy players start their Summer Holiday campaign to take as many tournament titles as possible.
This week Georgie travelled to Great Missenden but came up against the number 4 seed who took the match. Georgie showed great character and played very aggressive, which is a great sign of the force she will become. Kings Park Tennis Centre in Northampton hosted an LTA Grade 4 event on clay, which James Marchant competed in the Under 12’s. He strolled through his first two rounds with comprehensive victories against players rated the same and above him. He then met his match in a tightly fort contest in the semi-finals against Arthur Eyles, which he lost 6-4, 7-5 after the second set had been on serve until the last couple of games. James went on to play Daniel Waite in the 3rd / 4th place playoff and thrashed his opponent 6-1, 6-0 to take 3rd place. James only started in the Cavill Academy in April this year and has found himself winning and making the final stages of many tournaments. This is testament to his hard work and persistence which is allowing him to learn fast and grow as a player. Academy Director, John Cavill, said, “I’m pleased for James as he is trying so hard. I think it was a bit of a shock when he first came into the academy, as the intensity is very high. He has adapted well and continues to make good progress, so all we can do is work hard every day and see where it gets us!” Released: 31 July 2008
