3 A’s Needed for the Cavill Academy PDF Print E-mail

The Cavill Academy was established in September 2005 to develop players for competition. Over the past 3 and a half years there has been a wave of talented players come through the programme and now with national level coaches, Simon Tomlinson and Neil Claxton involved, the programme is stronger than it’s ever been.

Although the level has been raised, the LTA have not put any funding into the programme this year. This is due to their restructuring and new criteria to gain Performance Accreditation. The Cavill Academy are on the brink of gaining this accreditation, currently with 5 grade B players, which have been assessed by the LTA’s Talent Development Officer and they will all be reassessed at the end of April to see if they have made the leap to grade A. The academy needs 3 of the 5 to attain the level in order for them to receive LTA support and up to £6000 a year of funding.

Released: 3 April 2009
