The T-Factor is a Tennis MK initiative that is helping local club clubs to search for local junior tennis talent. All participating clubs are offering a FREE coaching session with their club’s professional coach and several lucky players will be given one year’s FREE MEMBERSHIP at the club!

On Sunday 28th March the Bucks 10&U training selection tournament was attended by the best Green Ball players in the area. MK Ace Tennis player Zack MacQueen was number 4 seed amongst a strong group of players. Zack’s first match was against a much improved Jordan Logan. Logan’s consistency and determination seemed to be too much for Zack, but Zack dug deep when it mattered and stepped up to control many of the points. After a match of incessant long rallies Zack triumphed 4-1 4-2.

Milton Keynes tennis enjoyed a very special visit from international tennis coach, Keith Reynolds, on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th March.
Keith was educated at Millfield School, Somerset where he had gained a tennis and football scholarship and Downing College Cambridge where he graduated with a Degree in Economics and played tennis and football for the University.

MK tennis talent, Lauren Armstrong, took the title at the LTA Grand Prix event and ended a 6 month winning spell for her opponent. Eight juniors from across the region gathered at David Lloyd Hertford on Sunday 28th February to compete in the Grade 3 event. In the Under 9’s events, the players play a best of 3 tie-breakers, with each tie-breaker going to 10 points. Amongst the competitors, who are some of the top UK Under 9 players, was Lauren Armstrong from Milton Keynes-based Cavill Academy at Stony Stratford Tennis Club. Over the past 6 months Lauren has progressed as a player after winning the Bucks Under 9 County Closed in August, 2 Indoor Series events and all her matches in a National competition whilst representing the Region.

Tennis success is something that Milton Keynes based charity, MK Ace Tennis, are experiencing on weekly basis. On Saturday 20th February, over 100 people gathered at the Ramada Encore Hotel to celebrate the successes of 2009 and award the players for their commitment and achievements. The evening was further enhanced with a very special visit from The Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Euan Henderson, who delighted in presenting the awards.

Emily Honor took part in a green tournament on 20 February at Holton and achieved a clean sweep of wins against a strong field to take first place. This marks a major step forwards for Emily and her development in this tough category.
Emily has been working hard on her game over the winter period and her commitment and hard work is starting to bring rewards.

MK Ace Tennis has been set up to make tennis affordable and accessible for all in Milton Keynes and Bucks. Our 3 strategic aims are Personal Development, Facilities and Campaigning. Now that we have charitable status this will enable us to access increased amounts of funding and support, that wasn’t available before. MK Ace Tennis consists of a board of 5 trustees and an executive committee who carry out the work, which includes John Cavill as the Chief Executive, Paula Musekiwa as the Head of Office and Katie Monsey as the Events Manager.
