At the Tennis Works Forum on Monday 4th January, Tennis Works founder John Cavill, presented his approach to ‘Getting Juniors into Tennis and Creating their Pathway’. The presentation gave an overview of the most important areas John believes should be addressed to create a successful coaching business that gives customers great customer care and opportunities. John talked about creating business strategies, communication with your customers, ways to attract more into your programme and how to build an effective support network. After the presentation John said, “It was a great exercise for the coaches and the feedback was very positive. If everyone only takes one new thing that will help them and their customers, then it was worthwhile, although I think they may have taken quite a few ideas.” John was surprised how many coaches didn’t have a business plan and don’t access any funding or sponsorship. John commented, “Any coach who works in a not-for-profit club is sitting on thousands of pounds worth of funding. The things I feel stops them from accessing it are a lack of expertise to accessing funds and lack of time to complete forms.
