| What is the format? |
- 10 hours work experience – This is non-paid but allows the Mentored to get involved under the supervision of assistants and coaches so as to see what the sessions entail and pick up useful knowledge. A record form must be completed with the date, number of hours completed and the coaches name and signature. Once work experience is completed a Mentor is appointed.
- Consultation with Mentor – One-on-one consultations with the Mentor allows the Mentored to express how they feel they are doing and receive personal advice on how to progress including:
- Evaluation of work experience
- Areas of improvement along with an action plan
- What qualifications or certificates to apply for
- Registration with the authorities
- Child protection course
- Working with children course
- First aid certificate
- Allocation of paid assisting work
- Paid Assisting work – Working alongside a coach, assisting in coaching sessions.
- Qualification / Certificate to be Mini Tennis coach – When the qualification has been attained, insurance must be obtain before being allocated work.
- Consultation with Mentor – Another evaluation on the progression of the Mentored.
- Monitor progress
- Schools scheme / Mini Tennis training
- Set up once a week Individual lessons to reach DCA / Instructor 1 playing level
- Coaching in the Schools Scheme and Mini Tennis sessions – Sessions will be set up for the Mentored to run.
- Consultation with Mentor – Evaluation of progression including:
- Analyse progress
- Apply for Development coach qualification
- Set up once a month lesson and consultation session until next qualification is passed
- Junior programme training – The key to developing players is to have a fun, dynamic and appealing programme. The unique structure must be run according to guidelines so as to work in conjunction with other coaches and clubs. They will be shown:
- How the programme runs
- Financial balancing
- When to expand the programme
- Merchandising
- Any other issues
- Set up an establishment for the Mentored to run – The Mentored will shadow the various steps of the Mentor when setting up a tennis programme. The programme will include primary and junior schools along with recruiting assistants from secondary schools and colleges.
- Consultation with Mentor – Once the junior programme is established and the Mentored is left to run it on their own, they are then promoted to Manager status. Further consultations will be as and when needed by email, phone or in person. The manager will be shown:
- How the programme is running
- Recruiting new assistants
- Any other issues
- Latest initiatives
- Company promotions running in conjunction
- Inter club matches
- Expanding your business
