School Scheme
What is the 'Schools Scheme'?
Children are not receiving enough professionally ran sport in school. The Schools Scheme takes tennis to first, middle and secondary schools, making it accessible for the children and open to all who wish to participate.
What happens in the first and middle schools?
The coach will follow a fun and progressive programme that has been devised by Tennis Works so that the children get quality sessions and that the environment and equipment that is used is safe. The programme will run for 38 sessions, with each session lasting between 30 minutes and one hour.
Also, to ensure that every child gets special attention and care, the classes will be a maximum of 12 children. To further ensure that every child gets this fantastic opportunity, new children will be participating every half-term.
8 players are selected to train once a week with a professional coach, during the Autumn and Spring terms. During the Summer term the schools will compete against each other in a league system. The coach will select 4 players from the squad to create the team and they will compete against the other school. The team will change to allow all to play and balance the standards between the schools. The winning school will receive the Tennis Works Secondary School Competition perpetual trophy and each player will receive a medal.
What happens in the secondary schools?
During the summer term we will either coach the children during curriculum time if the school will fund it, otherwise we run an hour after school club with a maximum of 12 children. All advertising is done through the school with a free demonstration session to promote the course.

Started in September 2003, we have launched the Secondary Schools Competition. Each school has a free trial session whereby the children are invited to 'try out' for the school squad.

Who does it involve?
All Tennis Works coaches are carefully selected taking into consideration their personality, qualifications, police check, first aid certificate, participation on the child protection course and public liability insurance. These provisions are a necessity for any coach to work within this organisation.
Tennis Works are seeking partnership with the local schools, parish councils and other organisations to increase tennis participation and awareness.
